I don't know why but it's considered to be bad luck to change a boat's name,
so we were all a bit disappointed to learn the boat's name "Nou-en" is Dutch for "So What". Apparently this is cute in Dutch but it doesn't sound like much of an handle for anything in English except maybe a rainy Wednesday in November when the TV breaks down and your dinner burns.
The old superstition is borne out by personal experience.
The co-author of us Purcell offspring (and of the boat to a certain extent)- the gentleman on the mini gallery to the right of your screen, bought the "Westerly Wind" and renamed her "The Prevail". A few weeks later, he was picking up bits of her off the ground after the crane braces holding her snapped. When she was put back together again and out fishing, she sank in the space of 60 seconds in the Irish sea off Dunlaoire, and Mick and Joe would have died except that a helicopter managed to find them.
The Nou-En it is so. Ah, whatever!
